Aug. 25, 1992 Document X3T9.2/92-162 R1 TO: X3TS.2 Committee (SCSI) FROM: Gerry Houlder SUBJECT: New ASC/ASCQ code to distinguish power on reset Seagate has received a request from a customer to add a new ASC/ ASCQ code to distinguish the power on reset situation from the other possible resets. These resets are now all reported under the same code (29 00). The customer wants to use the same ASC but desires a new ASCQ. I am making this formal request to add these ASC/ASCQ combinations to the SCSI-3 standard. ASC ASCQ DTLPWRSOMC DESCRIPTION --- ---- ---------- ----------- 29h 01h DTLPWRSOMC Power On occurred 29h 02h DTLPWRSOMC SCSI Bus RESET occurred 29h 03h DTLPWRSOMC BUS DEVICE RESET message occurred The description of the 29 00 code shouldn't be changed - it can still indicate a reset has occurred, without the ASCQ byte giving a more detailed description of the source of the reset.
