Another aspect of the answer is that while many members have a model of when, how , and where a SAS4 standard would be published, there is no guaranteed or even official timeline. There is a target set at the beginning of the project, but that is not updated
 with progress or problems until it is missed.<br>
<br>
There may be a consensus target amongst the members, but sometimes the cynical outliers are more accurate.<br>
<br>
An answer from the chair (Ralph Weber), is an informed opinion (once you agree on a specific development target (e.g., those that are committee controlled, those that are INCITS controlled and those that are ANSI controlled), but any answer needs to be taken
 in risk context.<br>
